High School Performances

Yesterday we were in 2 different High Schools in the Hastings Prince Edward School Board.  We visited  Central Hastings and Centennial SS.  The amazing art above is from Centennial Native Studies Students.  We never know what is going to happen or how we will be received when we go into schools which is great and a bit scary too.  Well we were blown away by the students in both schools.  We did sing/dance workshops at both places and had such a great time.  I often forget that we are hired to be there to entertain and educate because we end up having such a good time ourselves.

Today we were at Assumption College School in Brantford and Hill Park SS in Hamilton.  There were quite a few students at Assumption that we know as they are bused in from our reserve.  It was great getting to see them and visit.  Hill Park was a blast.  I don't think they realized when we showed up that we planned to have them sing and dance.  Well they got right involved and had a good time with us.  I hope you have as much fun each day as I do.  That's what I call success.

Templemead PS

We visited Templemead PS in Hamilton ON yesterday.  This was one of the few school performances that Jenn has been able to participate in.  It was great to have her and Jake along.  After the show we had to head to Toronto to perform at a conference.  We got there early enough to visit the Eaton Centre.  I hadn't been there in years so I was surprised to see that it is starting to attract buskers dressed in character costumes.  We saw Spider man as well as a pretty darn good Mr. Spock.  If I had my camera with me at the time you can be sure I would have gotten a pic.

Below are some pictures from our Templemead school performance.  I love it when we get to use the stage in the newer schools.  I also love that it is usually only the students that know how to run the lights.

Kristen took all these pictures during the show.  She is getting pretty good with the camera.

2012 NLL Champions Rochester Knighthawks

We were very honoured to be asked to dance at the opening for all the Rochester Knighthawks home games in 2012.  Because we are a family group, being able to share this time with each other was amazing.  Something we continually looked forward to.

Having the opportunity to perform in front of thousands of people and have it televised was exciting yet a tiny bit terrifying at the same time.

Thank you Knighthawks Players, Staff and Management for allowing us to be a small part of the 2012 Championship Season.  Congratulations!!!

U.C.D.S.B - G.E.C.D.S.B - Sharing our Culture to Future Leaders!

The last few days have taken us across Ontario to Cornwall to Windsor, back to back for Aboriginal education expo's.   This has been a wonderful experience.  Students that attend these are both native and non native which is awesome.  When we present our goal is to educate and entertain.  We are very thankful to all of the students and organizers we get to work with!

Claremont PS Community Totem Pole

We took part in the celebration of the completion of the Totem pole that the students at Claremont PS painted.   Even though we were a bit of a last minute edition, we felt very welcome and honoured to be a part of the day.
