We love going to the powwow at Del Grosso's Amusement park. The powwow is run more like a show for the spectators rather than a powwow where spectators are allowed to watch which is a bit of an adjustment for the dancers. Once we wrap our minds around that then it is all good. We love the fact that the kids are given breaks where they can go and enjoy the rides and the waterpark.

In the fridge in the hotel was some complimentary water. I had to giggle when I saw the label. As much as we enjoy the powwow it is probably the only one we go to where we are looked at like a carnival attraction. It is a surreal experience to say the least. The more we go to this powwow the more I feel like maybe there should be a little more outreach done in the community to let people know we aren't just dressing up to entertain them but that this is who we really are. Just a thought.

On Saturday after the powwow was done everyone quickly changed and took on the rides. I loved that at one point the swings were full of dancers. We all had a blast. On Sunday Derek and the kids were the last people to get to go on the crazy mouse before they closed for the night.
We look forward to next year. This weekend is the Grand River Champion of Champions powwow on our reserve. We are hosting a teen boys fancy special. I hope you can make it out.
